OVERVIEW:  viewed first from outside and last from inside

This section of the exhibition was viewed first from the outside looking through large glass windows and then through a large porthole as the viewer approached the gallery entrance.  Once inside the gallery, the viewer walked through the 3 main sections of the show:  “Unknowing, Seeking, Excessing”.  Then as the viewer turned the final corner or “bend in the river” the OVERVIEW section came into view and was the finale pulling of all of the sections together.
“It’s a Stretch” is the seminal piece that began this entire JOURNEY.  It sat in Carol’s studio unglazed for nearly a year until suddenly one day Smeraldo saw the way down the river ahead which became a synthesis of her many experiences in clay spanning over 30 years.  She combined years of experience spraying glazes on functional work and stretching textured slabs for her murals with entirely new and exciting forms.

THE FINALE of this Exhibition is the  inspiration for the next bend in the river on its way to the sea:

Carol reminds us that life is a creative process for us all.  Living our lives creatively means we must embrace the idea of perfect timing, inspiration and trust in the process.

I look forward to Carol's next exhibition which will show us what will be created from her personal magical underworld.
